Rural development in Bangladesh

Rural development means development of villages. Ninety percent of total population of Bangladesh lives in the rural areas. So development of Bangladesh means the development of her villages. The culture and civilization of this country have come from village life. Though many cities and towns have been built up in different part of Bangladesh, the sad condition of the rural life remains same.

There was a time, when the farmers of this country had plenty of food-stuff including milk and fish whereas villagers are now deprived of facilities of hospitals, doctors, medicines, schools and colleges.
The following steps should be taken for the rural development the rural areas of Bangladesh:
  1. To meet the shortage of food-stuffs ‘Grow More Food’ program is essential. Modern methods of cultivation and cash credit should be given to the farmers for the development of agriculture.
  2. Agriculture alone can not maintain such a large population. Cottage industry and agriculture must, therefore, go ahead.
  3. The people of rural areas are now in ill health. The health of the villagers should be improved in order to make them active in different works.
  4. Educated and well off men should be encouraged to back. It is possible when facilities earning, livelihood, recreations, education, health, food and sanitation are made for them.
The campaign’ Go Back to the Village’ may become successful if we co-operative with the Govt. in connection with their activities for the development of the rural areas.
